A leading project vehicle supplier for the Australian mining, resources and construction industry, CST Hire has been operating for ten years.
CST provides project spec vehicles, everything from Toyota Hilux utes and vans to fuel trucks, service trucks, a four wheel drive converted bus and more. With a fleet of nearly 850 vehicles, they have branches throughout Australia, from Tasmania to Darwin to Perth up to Port Hedland. André Greyling, National Maintenance Manager for CST Hire Australia, said, “Our customers expect the best of the best from us. Wheel safety is very important to us as our customers expect vehicles to be in top condition.”
“We want them to operate safely.”
Why not all wheel safety indicators are created equal
André Greyling said, “We implemented Redcat Indicators to improve our wheel safety. The majority of the mine sites require them to be on there because they've lost wheels in the past.”
He added that the quality of wheel safety indicators available in Australia varies widely. “We chose Redcat over the other suppliers – and we've tried them all.”
“We had a lot of problems with the competition’s indicators cracking and fading in the sun and falling off,” he said. “The Redcat ones are UV stabilised and resist fading and cracking. We even reuse them once we sell the trucks, we'll strip them off and use them again so that we have a good lifetime with them.”
With their very large national footprint, CST Hire’s fleet needs indicators that can handle Australia’s diverse range of conditions. “We have vehicles working in the snow, and we have vehicles working in Darwin. So we have the high temperature Redcat indicators going up and down the hills all the time where we were experiencing melting issues with the previous ones.”
“We started using the new LugLinx indicators when they came out on our smaller vehicles to prevent the false positives which we were getting with singular ones,” André said.
The global leader in wheel safety solutions
Redcat Industries’ Regan Attwood said, “For fleet operators wheel nut indicators are important because they give maintenance visibility and reduce exposure to the legal and reputational consequences associated with wheel-off incidents.”
“They not only protect their staff, their operators and their people, but also the general public, other road users and the environment, which in turn protects their company as a whole and their brand reputation.”
André Greyling said, “I highly recommend using Redcat indicators because of their longevity and the value for money – they really aren't that expensive.”
“The price of losing a wheel and killing someone's family is huge.”
